Kathie Madden began her involvement in the community by spearheading numerous sporting and fund-raising events. Building on these experiences; in 2006, Kathie moved on to combine her display merchandising and a travel industry background to establish her event management company; Kathie Madden Events.
In 2008/2009 Kathie was invited to represent the event industry as a participant in an international project being developed by Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council in Ottawa, Ontario to assist in building occupational standards and the competency framework for event professionals. The result of this project; the International Competency Standards for Event Management was published in 2009-2010. In addition she has sat on a National Advisory Committee with CTHRC developing content for the 2008 HR Forum in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Kathie is an active member of the Delta Chamber of Commerce and has co-chaired the annual ‘Hats Off to Excellence’ Gala honoring individuals and businesses for their contribution to the community. She served on the event committee as committee chair and developed a new series of events called “Up Close and Personal” providing opportunities to the participants to experience business from a field trip perspective. In addition to her event planning business she has published works in trade publications; “Business Journal” and “The Planner”, sharing helpful tips, and ideas with industry professionals on hosting successful events.
Referring to herself as a creative engineer, Kathie has managed and organized corporate events both locally and as far away as Las Vegas, Nevada. She has worked with leaders in business and industry, as well as private, small business, and non-profit groups. In 2008 Kathie was the Silver award winner in the 7th Annual ‘Celebrating Women & the Spirit of the Cranes’ sponsored by Burns Bog Conservation Society, recognizing women that make a difference in their community or workplace. She has served as VP Communications, and is currently President-Elect on the Board of Directors of ISES Vancouver (International Special Events Society), and is now working toward her professional designation (CSEP), the hallmark of achievement in the Special Events Industry.
Kathie Madden Events believes that understanding client objectives is crucial to the success of any event. What results is a function that effectively represents the client, while at the same time affords them the freedom to participate and enjoy their event.
